Michael Milton’s Canberra

Michael Milton is a deadset legend. This one-legged endurance athlete currently holds the outright Australian downhill speed skiing record of 213km/h. He has been establishing himself as a summertime athlete through triathlon and cycling. A high amputee, he cycles using just the one leg without any prosthesis. Watching him smash out the bike leg at the ITU champs in Auckland last year was inspirational – as were many of the performances and stories of the para-triathletes with whom he was competing.

He’s currently training to take out the one-legged marathon world record.

Thanks to Todd Hayward for sending us this clip from ABC’s My Place, in which Milto talks about his Canberra.
